Nothing like people to ruin your day.

Alright so last week we found out that our condo was put up for sale. Jason looked up the sales price, quickly realized that is was pretty low and we feared for the type of people that would be coming through to view our condo, we were right to fear. Usually I am pretty easy going and try to be accommodating but somethings are unbelievable. So these people put in an offer on our home and then the husband wanted to come check it out so their agent and our agent agreed on a time. We thought, okay they'll be here what like a half hour?

So Jason and Daniel went to look at homes for us and I stayed here to watch the show. The husband proceeded to test each outlet to see if it was hot, then he was looking in the attic space, then messing with the fuses and air conditioning. He was the first to show up so we thought, ok, this is going to be alright. Ten to fifteen minutes later someone else knocked on the door. There is this lady with three kids and a pizza box. She mumbled something to me about her girl needing to use the bathroom and I said, "sure, it's just down the hall." They come in, put the pizza box on my table, and sit at my table to eat their dinner! Yet they never asked for napkins I half expected them to use my plates. I mean really.....who does that?

They were here for over an hour. The kids played with Daniel's toys that I had specifically put away. The mom changed diapers on the floor. I stopped the girls from going out on the balcony and playing with all the toys and from sitting on the couch. That wouldn't have been such a big deal but pizza with no napkins and no hand washing after dinner meant no touching our stuff. The dad, well who knows what he really did. He kept trying to ask me really technical questions about the foundation, the air conditioning, the water heater and something else. It was nuts. So after they finally left, the ac didn't work. It was awesome. I can't even really describe everything that happened, but oh my goodness sakes.

This week we found out, our condo sold, two of our offers on homes did not work out, we have to be out by July 17th, and Daniel is having more bad days than good. It has been a week to remember and it is only Thursday! Hopefully something will work out on our end soon.

Okay I could see people asking you technical if YOU guys OWNED the place, but you don't! I think if the owners put it up for sale, then they should be the ones giving the tour and what not. And the foundation? Did he not realize he walked up to the third floor right? How would you know? And the whole pizza thing is just ridiculous. I mean, COME ON! How incredibly frustrating. I hope everything works out for you guys! Let me know if there is anything we can do to help.

This experience has reinforced why I don't like people.

Dude, you totally should have helped yourself to a slice or three. If they're going to make themselves at home in YOUR HOME, you might as well get a free dinner out of it. Then you could have had the satisfaction of knowing they're out there telling their friends and family, "We went to look at this house, and you wouldn't BELIEVE what the people living there did ..."

It would be most fun to speculate if their friends and family were thinking in response, "What the heck were you doing bringing a pizza into someone else's home?"

WOW! That makes me so not want to try and sell our place. I just hate strangers coming into my house. I would have asked them to leave. That is just so not ok!

I'm sad you guys are moving. We'd love to have Daniel come play while you pack up. Give me a call. I love the smiley pictures of Alice, what a cute baby!

Oh Mel, I'm so sorry. That's so stressful. I can't believe those people were so rude. That is so so tacky!! So did your other offer work out that Jason posted on Facebook?

Whale Watching in San Francisco

My sister and her family came all the way from Idaho to visit us. Naturally we had to take them to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a typical July day, foggy, freezing, windy and crowded. We battled people on bikes and with strollers and the wind to walk onto the bridge. We had just made it to the first tower when we noticed a whale watching tour boat and joked about how cool it would be if there was suddenly a whale that came out of the water. About ten seconds later, A WHALE CAME OUT OF THE WATER! It didn't ever do the complete National Geographic flip over or show it's tail, but there was a Humpback Whale feeding, and it kept coming up to eat. It was amazing. AMAZING. We spent almost 40 minutes watching the whale, possibly whales at the time. There was one in particular that came over, right below us the kids could all see it, and it was so close we could see the barnacles on the mouth, and it rolled and was putting on quite the show for us. It was an amazing sigh...

Marriages

I am combining the prompts from the 4th and 5th. They ask if you have marriage certificates and then stories about how the people met and later became married. I have found a few citations of marriage records but have seen very few, while I am grateful for the indexers who put the information out there I can't wait until they get around to attaching images. Although I guess I can always pay for the actual documents but who wants to do that? Regardless, this is one of my favorite stories. My grandma, LaVon Taysom, was the oldest of a lot of kids. When she was a teenager her parents sent her and two of her sisters to live with their grandparents (Hammers) in Pleasant View, UT. While there, they would attend the local dances and she eventually met Marshall Maycock. Now being proper, as they dated, her sisters went with them as chaperones. Eventually LaVon and Marshall decided to get married. She was only 17 so on their marriage certificate her birthday says 10 Jul 1908!! ...

The Power of One

I used to love Sundays. I was raised Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and we Mormons go to church for three hours every Sunday. It has never been a chore to me, I have always enjoyed it. My children on the other hand, don't love it, and every Sunday there is an epic battle in my home to get dressed for church. Half of them don't want to go and try to finagle their way out of attending, the other half don't mind going but hate wearing anything but active wear. Needless to say I have to now gear up for Sundays. Today was different, and all because of one child. This child. Alice got dressed today 25 minutes before our normal getting dressed time, without me asking, without me pleading, without me begging and bargaining, and because she got dressed Esther got dressed, and then Daniel and Charlie was the only one who tried to finagle staying home (which is his normal and always has been) yet he chose to wear a vest with his shirt and ...
