Alice's Birthday

Yes yes, well Alice's birthday was in April, so we aren't too far behind. As for tradition we went to the Tulip Festival for Alice's birthday. It was so fun. The kids loved being outside, I loved the gardens, and Jason, well he loves the food. We had the best pulled pork sandwich there, yum. Also there was clogging going on which the kids loved. Before it started, they just had music playing and lots of little kids danced on the platform. Our kids of course loved that. We keep trying to go back to the gardens, but the weather has been uncooperative.

Alice got a trike for her birthday. We just took it outside last week and she loves when I push her around. This being our second trike, we bought the one with the parent handles.

Alice helped make her cake, by choosing the frosting color. We put M&Ms on it and that was all she wanted to eat. Then she scraped her finger on it to get the frosting off and we just let her have fun. Soon the whole cake looked like it had small trenches in it. Oh well.

My parents came down for conference and we took Dad with us to the Planetarium in Salt Lake. The kids had fun yelling "grandpa come here," the whole time. Then we went to the new Whole Foods, which was awesome. Although, we did have a potty incident there. Let's just say that Daniel can hold a lot of pee. Despite that, we had tons of fun with Grandpa.

Ikea beat the rainy day

My kids love the dirt. They love being outside while I try to plant and do everything in the dirt. Alice rolls in, runs in, and eats the dirt. The grossest thing I have found lately is her with her mouth full of mud and a pebble in her hand and big smiles on her face. To beat that I have found her now three times with dirt in the mouth. Yuck! Today it rained. This has got to be the fifteenth day this month that it rained and my kids could not stand it. So eventually I told the kids to get their shoes (which makes Alice run to the door) and that we were going to IKEA. IKEA is a great way to spend the day. Daniel and Alice played in the kids rooms that were set up and ran through that little hole in the wall they have between two of the rooms. They loved it. One of the rooms had a slide in it which Alice discovered that she loved. Down the slide she went, over and over and over again. Then we came home and the crying and tantrums started up right away again. But for those two...

Marriages

I am combining the prompts from the 4th and 5th. They ask if you have marriage certificates and then stories about how the people met and later became married. I have found a few citations of marriage records but have seen very few, while I am grateful for the indexers who put the information out there I can't wait until they get around to attaching images. Although I guess I can always pay for the actual documents but who wants to do that? Regardless, this is one of my favorite stories. My grandma, LaVon Taysom, was the oldest of a lot of kids. When she was a teenager her parents sent her and two of her sisters to live with their grandparents (Hammers) in Pleasant View, UT. While there, they would attend the local dances and she eventually met Marshall Maycock. Now being proper, as they dated, her sisters went with them as chaperones. Eventually LaVon and Marshall decided to get married. She was only 17 so on their marriage certificate her birthday says 10 Jul 1908!! ...

Sitting Up

Alice has begun sitting up. She can sit for about a minute on her own and then for about five minutes supported. Grass is also her new favorite thing and she will grab the blanket that she sits on and move it so that she can grab the grass. She can currently pull of fist fulls of grass with no hesitation. Although she did face plant in the grass and decided that the grass was not where her head should be. Daniel loves raspberries. He loves to run outside and pick raspberries straight from the bushes. Then he loves to run around the yard at grandma's house screaming. Alvin the dog is actually more afraid of Daniel than the other way around. Our house is coming along and hopefully within the month so we can get more settled. Yellowstone was a successful trip and our kids had a blast. Daniel could not see out the binoculars so eventually we just started pointed out animals that he could see on his own which were: buffalo. Good things seeing four million buffalo was exciting...
