Daniel turns Five!

I know right, two posts in a row after months of nothing. Go me.

Daniel turned five in March. He was so excited. He has a habit of declaring what type of birthday he should get. Last year it was space, and yes he excepted all space toys. This year was Star Wars and he expected all toys from that genre. Needless to say thank goodness Williams Sonoma had a bunch of Star Wars stuff for cakes and cupcakes.

For his birthday weekend, Grandma was here so she took Daniel and Alice and their cousin Josh to Kangaroo Zoo. Now for those who have not been, Kangaroo Zoo in Lindon is super fun. A little pricey but man they had so much fun and ended up exhausted so who can truly complain? It is a whole bunch of bouncy things for the kids to play on. Mostly slides and a few houses. Especially since it ended up that Grandma paid! Daniel would have never left but Alice almost fell asleep on the floor. Charlie did great and slept the whole time. Way to go!

For his birthday, it was embarrassing and I am glad I have such great sisters and friends. We had a lot more planned but a certain three week old made it impossible to do anything and eventually we even ended up with store bought frosting for the cupcakes. I know that may not be gross to some of you, but man I was upset. But eventually the cookies got frosted and the cupcakes got devoured and Daniel got a light saber so he was happy.

This picture makes me laugh, I love that at kid birthdays all the kids are so stinking excited about opening presents.

Just because he turned five, here are five things I love about Daniel.
1. His curiosity (while it truly may kill him) is crazy and I love how much he loves to learn.
2. I love how close he is to the spirit and that he knows Jesus is real.
3. Daniel is a very kind hearted person who cares about how other kids feel.
4. I love that his "knock knock" joke phase is over and I survived it.
5. Daniel cracks me up with all his ridiculous phrases, like "my brain is heavy!"

I love that Daniel is always so sincere in everything he says or asks. He truly wants to know and he really wants to be kind. I don't think many 5 year olds would be classified as sincere.

Daniel is super cute just like all the wonderful kids in the family. But I daresay he's got some of the best quotes!!!

Ikea beat the rainy day

My kids love the dirt. They love being outside while I try to plant and do everything in the dirt. Alice rolls in, runs in, and eats the dirt. The grossest thing I have found lately is her with her mouth full of mud and a pebble in her hand and big smiles on her face. To beat that I have found her now three times with dirt in the mouth. Yuck! Today it rained. This has got to be the fifteenth day this month that it rained and my kids could not stand it. So eventually I told the kids to get their shoes (which makes Alice run to the door) and that we were going to IKEA. IKEA is a great way to spend the day. Daniel and Alice played in the kids rooms that were set up and ran through that little hole in the wall they have between two of the rooms. They loved it. One of the rooms had a slide in it which Alice discovered that she loved. Down the slide she went, over and over and over again. Then we came home and the crying and tantrums started up right away again. But for those two...

Nothing like people to ruin your day.

Alright so last week we found out that our condo was put up for sale. Jason looked up the sales price, quickly realized that is was pretty low and we feared for the type of people that would be coming through to view our condo, we were right to fear. Usually I am pretty easy going and try to be accommodating but somethings are unbelievable. So these people put in an offer on our home and then the husband wanted to come check it out so their agent and our agent agreed on a time. We thought, okay they'll be here what like a half hour? So Jason and Daniel went to look at homes for us and I stayed here to watch the show. The husband proceeded to test each outlet to see if it was hot, then he was looking in the attic space, then messing with the fuses and air conditioning. He was the first to show up so we thought, ok, this is going to be alright. Ten to fifteen minutes later someone else knocked on the door. There is this lady with three kids and a pizza box. She mumbled some...

Sitting Up

Alice has begun sitting up. She can sit for about a minute on her own and then for about five minutes supported. Grass is also her new favorite thing and she will grab the blanket that she sits on and move it so that she can grab the grass. She can currently pull of fist fulls of grass with no hesitation. Although she did face plant in the grass and decided that the grass was not where her head should be. Daniel loves raspberries. He loves to run outside and pick raspberries straight from the bushes. Then he loves to run around the yard at grandma's house screaming. Alvin the dog is actually more afraid of Daniel than the other way around. Our house is coming along and hopefully within the month so we can get more settled. Yellowstone was a successful trip and our kids had a blast. Daniel could not see out the binoculars so eventually we just started pointed out animals that he could see on his own which were: buffalo. Good things seeing four million buffalo was exciting...
