Crazy Things are Happenings

There is a lot to report today so we will start with a funny story. THe other day Daniel hit Jason and Jason picked him up and said "What do you need to say?" Daniel quickly replied "Thank you." It was really funny.

Jason, Daniel and I walked our first 5K. It was my sister Tiffany's idea. She has started working at a new running store in Highland called Get Fit. (So if anyone needs new shoes go on in.) So all of us decdied to do it together. Now if you have seen Jason and I lately you can tell that we are not the most fit of people at the moment so our goal was to walk the 5K in under an hour and to not be last. We started off last but reached both of our goals. And since we woke up not quite a half hour before the race began we were just proud of ourselves for getting there and finishing at all. Daniel has a good time once he got in the stroller, it is just the getting him in there that kills him. He thinks he should be able to walk always.

We are moving August 1st as the first of our two moves. We have to be out of our condo which has sold. But our lovely house will not be finished until September and probably the end of that month. So the kids and I are imposing upon my parents for awhile and Jason will be staying with his good friend Travis. It should pretty much suck. I am excited but very sad to leave our wonderful ward and our friends. Daniel will have to make new friends as well which I don't know how he will handle that but I guess we shall see.

Another big step in our lives is that Alice is three months going on nine months. She can crawl slightly and prefers to sit and stand. She can push herself up into a sitting position when we are holding her which is crummy, she tends to try to fly out of our arms. She also is about two weeks away from fully rolling over. We are glad for her determination but sad that she wants to be so grown up already. Other than sounding like a very loud maccaw most of the time, she is awesome.

Ugh. Dreaded spousal separation, on TOP of living in someone else's home, on TOP of two moves in as many months? Yep, you're going on the prayer list for sure, my friend. Here's hoping the next two months fly by. You can do it. After all, what choice do you have? ;-)

Hey, I didn't know you guys have a blog? We do too! It's good to read some of your stories and see your pics. Good luck with your move. Moving sucks!

I guess at least you have parents who will let you impose, right? Sorry that is still a crappy situation. Be sad that you are leaving the ward. Really. I miss it so much, not only for my socialization, but for Anna's as well. She left so many friends and now I feel like we never get out and play. Boo!

That is crazy about Alice being so advance - woot woot for her! And congrats on the 5k. Now that I have Evan, Anna wants to sit in the grocery cart where I put Evan and she HATED that before - same with the stroller thing. She used to want to walk and NOW she wants to the stroller. Dang kid.

Oh, I feel for you! It is so hard being in limbo! Where is your new house going to be? That part is super exciting!

It will all be worth it in the end, right!? I will miss you, though. What would we do without the internet?

Sunday School Lesson on The Revelation

I teach Gospel Doctrine, or basically a bible study class at my church. It is one of my favorite things to do. This week I went a little insane and ended up doing a lot of prep work and just wanted to share it. We always run out of time to study the Book of Revelation in the New Testament, because it comes at the end, and always around Christmas time and everyone does Christmas lessons instead. This year I decided to battle the beast (pun intended) and taught a crash course in Revelation in 35 minutes or less. Obviously I had way more than material than we got to go through. Half of these handouts came from BYU Studies website, which is an amazing source of information if you are looking at a deeper view of your scripture reading. Another help was the Ensign come follow me article this month by Nicholas Frederick. Handouts There's a lot more info that's in my class notes if you would like that as well. Class Notes

Whale Watching in San Francisco

My sister and her family came all the way from Idaho to visit us. Naturally we had to take them to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a typical July day, foggy, freezing, windy and crowded. We battled people on bikes and with strollers and the wind to walk onto the bridge. We had just made it to the first tower when we noticed a whale watching tour boat and joked about how cool it would be if there was suddenly a whale that came out of the water. About ten seconds later, A WHALE CAME OUT OF THE WATER! It didn't ever do the complete National Geographic flip over or show it's tail, but there was a Humpback Whale feeding, and it kept coming up to eat. It was amazing. AMAZING. We spent almost 40 minutes watching the whale, possibly whales at the time. There was one in particular that came over, right below us the kids could all see it, and it was so close we could see the barnacles on the mouth, and it rolled and was putting on quite the show for us. It was an amazing sigh

Sewing Quilts with Daniel

Daniel is not one to sit still very often at all. My parents say that he is totally my son and that I drove my mom crazy too but frankly I can't remember that far back. There is one thing that Daniel loves to help me with, and that is sewing. He loves the machine and loves to sit in my lap as we sew anything. Sometimes I think about just sewing straight lines down my endless supply of fabric because I know he will sit still for awhile. A few months ago I had a good friend show me how to make rag quilts. The first one that Daniel and I sewed together was for my niece Abigale. Then of course I had to make one for my nephew Joshua. Then I decided to make one for Daniel. I was going to make a transportation one, full of trucks and planes and boats, but when I took him to the fabric store, much to my surprise and delight he chose dragons over the airplanes. So we started his quilt last week. He sat on my lap or next to me while we sewed every piece together. He was so excited
