Things I love about my kids.....

I of course think my kids are super cute, although Daniel can also be absurdly annoying. But recently I have been more in tuned to my blessings and would like to share why I love my kids.

Daniel
1. I love his enthusiasm for life. He wants to see, touch, and feel everything.
2. I love his ability to love the ridiculous things in life. Such as the plane part at the end of Toy Story 2. Or Dad making a silly noise.
3. I love that if we are in the car and Alice starts fussing he says "It's okay Alice, we're almost there. It's okay Alice no need to cry."
4. I love his "squeeze it" hugs.
5. I love that he loves saying prayers and reading scriptures. In fact about two days ago he said his very first prayer on his own. He remembered to say thank you for things and then blessed Alice. It was amazing.
6. I also love how much he loves my mom. He asks to go to grandma's at least every other day.
7. I love how much he loves music. Although he is very particular about what songs he wants to hear and for us to sing....I hope he always loves good music.
8. I love that he loves to read.
9. I love that he still naps.
10. I love that he loves muenster cheese, pepper on everything, avocado enchiladas, udon noodles with extra soy sauce, and all the other good food that he eats.

Alice
1. I love that she learned how to laugh this week.
2. Much more than with Daniel I love dressing her up, she really is my little 10 lb. doll.
3. I love that she smiles when Daniel sings to her and talks to her.
4. I love that she loves Jason and will look for him until she finds him.
5. I love that for the most part she sleeps from 10 until 5.
6. I love all her hair and that on most days it sticks up everywhere.
7. I love that she loves to play with her toys.
8. I love her long fingers and toes.
9. I love her face when Daniel holds her.
10. I love that soon since we bought a house that she will no longer sleep in my room.

This is also one of Alice's new tricks. She likes to hold the book you read to her.

That was a fun list. Something I should do right now when I want to pull my hair out. LOL. Your kids are cute and reading about Alice makes me think how crazy it is how much kiddos change the first 2 months! It makes me excited - I also hope my child sleeps that long at night soon ;)

What a great tribute to your children. I spent the evening in the ER with Dani (just a cut on her eyelid...) and am also finding myself counting my blessings. Children truly are our greatest joy!
Congrats on the house! When do you move?

Sunday School Lesson on The Revelation

I teach Gospel Doctrine, or basically a bible study class at my church. It is one of my favorite things to do. This week I went a little insane and ended up doing a lot of prep work and just wanted to share it. We always run out of time to study the Book of Revelation in the New Testament, because it comes at the end, and always around Christmas time and everyone does Christmas lessons instead. This year I decided to battle the beast (pun intended) and taught a crash course in Revelation in 35 minutes or less. Obviously I had way more than material than we got to go through. Half of these handouts came from BYU Studies website, which is an amazing source of information if you are looking at a deeper view of your scripture reading. Another help was the Ensign come follow me article this month by Nicholas Frederick. Handouts There's a lot more info that's in my class notes if you would like that as well. Class Notes

Whale Watching in San Francisco

My sister and her family came all the way from Idaho to visit us. Naturally we had to take them to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a typical July day, foggy, freezing, windy and crowded. We battled people on bikes and with strollers and the wind to walk onto the bridge. We had just made it to the first tower when we noticed a whale watching tour boat and joked about how cool it would be if there was suddenly a whale that came out of the water. About ten seconds later, A WHALE CAME OUT OF THE WATER! It didn't ever do the complete National Geographic flip over or show it's tail, but there was a Humpback Whale feeding, and it kept coming up to eat. It was amazing. AMAZING. We spent almost 40 minutes watching the whale, possibly whales at the time. There was one in particular that came over, right below us the kids could all see it, and it was so close we could see the barnacles on the mouth, and it rolled and was putting on quite the show for us. It was an amazing sigh

Sewing Quilts with Daniel

Daniel is not one to sit still very often at all. My parents say that he is totally my son and that I drove my mom crazy too but frankly I can't remember that far back. There is one thing that Daniel loves to help me with, and that is sewing. He loves the machine and loves to sit in my lap as we sew anything. Sometimes I think about just sewing straight lines down my endless supply of fabric because I know he will sit still for awhile. A few months ago I had a good friend show me how to make rag quilts. The first one that Daniel and I sewed together was for my niece Abigale. Then of course I had to make one for my nephew Joshua. Then I decided to make one for Daniel. I was going to make a transportation one, full of trucks and planes and boats, but when I took him to the fabric store, much to my surprise and delight he chose dragons over the airplanes. So we started his quilt last week. He sat on my lap or next to me while we sewed every piece together. He was so excited
